Sun started to come out as we got to the lido. Lots of people in. Both of us decided to swim for at least half an hour. Kate did a km in slightly less and I clocked up 2 km in about 38 minutes. Water still around 11 degrees C. But, there was Stephanie swimming alongside me, gaining 5m on me every length, and she stayed in for just over an hour and did 4000 yards. Then apparently went for a run around the park and is getting back into do another hour swim later…she’s got a slot to swim the Channel next July.
Meanwhile we chatted to all and sundry – Rocka Billy, Inez, Unite Gail, Alison, Batch, Pip the Elder, Pip the Younger, Jonathan, Egg and Ian. Elsewhere, the Ladies Breakfast Club (8am first Sat of each month) have posted a challenge. The Cold Water Swimming Championships are in Riga in January 2012. The challenge is to see if the members at SLSC can swim 1400 miles (the distance between here and Riga) between 1st November and the end of January. There will be a log book in the cafe.
