Met up with Big C and his mate Stevie to do a few more lengths than yesterday. The air temperature drops next week, so thought I should do the mile this weekend. My initial thoughts were to raise it to 14 lengths today, but at 14 I felt fine, so went on to complete the mile – almost two lengths ahead of Big C. Got out and went to the sauna to chat to Kate, Tricky and Elizabeth; whilst Big C (aka ‘Two More Carl’) went on to do 2km.
I must admit to being a little in awe of Oregon Mike’s 26 lengths yesterday, but this has prompted thoughts of human diversity and differing responses to cold and recovery from cold. A subject I shall explore a little more and write about.
In the meantime, Tricky has become the editor of the SLSC newsletter, Kate did 4 lengths, and Elizabeth swam with fins – which were mostly disappointing. Big C’s mate, Stevie, confirmed our worst prejudices about triathletes, by entering the pool in a wetsuit and leaving after a width!
