mile in the sun

15/03/2011 by Carl Reynolds

An unexpected morning free of work, so arranged to meet Big C down the lido. I was late. But we had plenty of time. So we decided to do a mile (or 18 lengths). When we arrived we were the only ones in the pool; and it stayed that way for much of our swim. I started to get really cold around length 15, but by then knew I could complete the mile and have some sense left to spare. I was a little dazed on exit, but only minorly so.

We were joined in the sauna by Jenny and another fellow, whose name I cannot remember, and chatted about tweets, blogs and activism. Jenny has a plan to swim in every public pool in London. She’s not certain how many there are, but you can read about her journey at Swim Around London – when I can find it, I’ll link it!

6.5 degrees C

  1. Bryn says:

Interesting project but not quite as tempting as SLSC cold water lido crawl or beter still swim around the Hebrides! Roll on June.

  2. How about spending the rest of your life swimming to each and every British isle that’s no more than 3 miles from the mainland, or a large island?
