the umbrellas of Tooting

Sunny, but relatively quiet. The ladies of the Committee and their companions turned up in force this morning to rehearse their show, for tonight’s BBQ. In fitted cossies and primary-coloured umbrellas, they twirled their way across the poolside, elegantly slid in and proceeded to gyrate in the shallow end. Very amusing.

Carletto and I swam 20 odd lengths, chatted to Pip about the wondrous antique shops of Hastings, Jenny about a trip to Pells Pool,  Ann, Hilary about the Plunge, Nick about his Pitt in The Madness of King George, Bertie, Nicky about her senseless arm and Margy and Mandy about the umbrella routine. All this readers in two hours, including a KitKat, cup of tea and hot shower. I suppose at this point, I should say, “marvellous”.
