When your first work meeting is at 2pm and the sun is shining, what better way to spend the morning than with your loved one in a large expanse of water? And, even better, to have the wherewithal to cook your breakfast afterwards. Now that the lido is members only, we have access to the kettles, microwave, cutlery and crockery of the cafe.
The sign on the way in said 13 degrees C. The sun was shining and people were chatting and sunning themselves on the side of the pool. Got changed quickly and dived in…felt much colder than Sunday. Much colder. For the first time this year my face felt cool and my nipples felt clamped. Nevertheless, after a couple of lengths, I’d got used to it; and spurred on by the promise of toast, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, I swam two km and Mrs Ape did one.
We then tucked into our 2nd breakfast (warm porridge at home for the first) and washed it down with a coffee. In the meantime, I jumped back in the pool and took some daft shots.
