Tankerton Slopes

Down the A2 to Whitstable, or Tankerton Slopes to be more precise. Juliet, a Kent swimming friend, has a beach hut above the beach. We arrived, we connived and we dived in for just over twenty minutes. I’d have said it was 10ish in the water. Swimming just outside the groynes it was a pleasure to swim in the sea so late in the year. My fellow aquanauts are not so acclimatised, so donned their rubbers – I made the small concession of a pair of beach shoes to wade in over the pebbles. Followed by hot tea, carrot soup, bacon sardines and a blueberry jam Victoria Sponge. Lovely. Thanks to Juliet for her hospitality – come swim in Tooting Bec Lido with us soon.
