Mrs Ape reports – No blog yesterday as we didn’t swim! Instead we met up later in the day with a large group of our SLSC friends. The occasion, to visit the merry land of panto, and watch our swimming buddy, Chris Stanton, perform as the King in Jack and the Beanstalk (“GOD SAVE THE KING”). Margy and Egg kindly brought a token child along – which gave us an air of credibility. There was a buzz in the air (and round the bar) and lots of excitement about seeing the Nolan sisters again – they wish. I haven’t laughed so much for ages. I think it was true to say our party contributed enthusiastically to the essence of pantomime – from obligatory heckling, theft of marshmallows, and lots of both cheering and booing for respective goodies and baddies. We were bedazzled and amazed by the dame’s endless supply of gowns and wigs and he kindly allowed a group of us to visit his dressing room post performance – which was, of course, round the back. The Ape commented that he now had some inspired design ideas for his hat for the 2013 UK Cold Water Swimming Champs.
