Ipanema beach this morning. White capping out to sea, but that didn’t deter us from a 2k swim along the beach, about 200 metres out. The seabed sandy and around five metres below. Saw shoals of fish, a couple of jellies and the odd ominous shadow, which turned out to be sea birds air circling above. Then back round to Copacabana to view the race course and have another swim out along the route for a while. Later, after ice cream and food we wandered into a favela to see some samba, but got lost in the meandering alleys and gave up, to return home to another cool dip and sauna.
