flippin heck

A feeling of merriment today. Thermometers reading between 1.5 and 3.5 degrees C, lots of smiles, people coming at all sorts of unusual times (for them), shrieks, fear, music and the inevitable philosophy and banter. Another morning at the South London Swimming Club then. Mrs Ape and I both stayed in, what we concurred from our highly attuned bodies was probably 2.5ish, for ten minutes or so. She did 400 yards and I did 600. Others were dipping, doing widths and some a few lengths. All agree that the feeling in their hands and toes had gone. Even colliding with a twig was painful. And an amazing mixture of sun on the way there and torrential downpours on the way back.
