Burgh Island

Arrived in Devon after a long drive from Derbyshire. Felt the call of the sea. Burgh Island beckoned. I’d swum round once before with Kari Furre, and was a little worried about doing it solo. But the sea was flat-ish and the tide was coming in.

A little extra swell on the first corner took me over a looming reef and I was around. Rocks covered in sea weed all around, amazing patterns and thoughts of secret sea monsters filled my mind. Then through a channel in the rocks. And out into the open sea again.

A little more work to get to the final corner and some hand work to take me
over the final reef. Then back to the beach to the relief of the RNLI lifeguard.
