Hot off the press, I have the latest from Wild Things publishing – Wild Swimming – Italy. This one’s written by Italian, Michele Tameni, and it keeps to the same high standards as predecessors in the Wild Swimming collection. Excellent descriptions, directions, maps, photos and both thematic and geographic organisation.

So who is it for? It strikes me that families, soloists, groups, walkers, bikers, van dwellers, gyrovagues and all will treasure this on a trip to the capital of European cuisine and style. Whether you’re ascending a Dolomite, lounging on the Amalfi, strolling in the Appenines or vulcanising on Sicily, there’s a wild pool waiting for you. At £16.99 it’s a bargain. Get one.

I think it’s about time I went to Italy again.
