January – We both enjoyed the PHISH cold water racing championship (organised by that giant of cold water swimming, John Donald) – and I managed a cool 7th in the 1km endurance. And filmed Mrs Ape stroking through Tooting Bec Lido in the rain.

February – posted an ironic 10 swimming lessons and a piece on women and swimming.

March – Swam in Margate Sea Lido after a beach clean-up organised by Surfers Against Sewage. And swam at Budleigh Salterton with the wonderful Helen Sargent.

April – gathered with the 3 Rivers crew for a multi-river swim and reflected on flow state in the water.

May – Getting busy. Cleaned the cafe with Nando and an army of helpers; went to the launch of Jenny Landreth’s Swimming London; Mrs Ape won the Rose Merrit Bowl again; and I was the 3rd SuperVet in my one and only Aquathlon.

June – a week swimming on the Aoelian Islands, off Sicily with t’other Carl.

July – swim-a-thon month! Mrs Ape went to Cork to dip her toes into Ned Denison’s Hardcore Week and we ended the month on the Lleyn Peninsular.

August – another month of going places and swimming. Snowdonia; Anglesey; Devon and Kefalonia.

September – took part in the first Scilly Swim Challenge.

October – sunshine and leaves at Tooting.

November – back to Devon. And Movember madness.

December – cold in Tooting, warm in Charlton, amazing in the Olympic Pool.

Hopes for 2015 – Summer Isles trip in midsummer (if the locals reply to my mails!); lots of SW Coast swimming; Dartington to Dartmouth with Kari (unfinished business!); ‘getting’ effortless butterfly and swimming a quarter mile of it.
