Some of the SLSC crew are doing a channel relay this year. I might be crewing for them, depending on moves, moods and other miscellania. As you’ve read I always go inside to swim distance in the winter months, as it is hard to swim more than a few hundred yards in water less than 8C…although I have been known to swim more when larger. They are building up their stamina and getting used to longer swims with regular training sessions down at Crystal Palace; and a few other SLSCers have been joining in. So I was happy to pace one or two of them and join in the end of session race and, as with all swimmers, it’s good to have a laugh and a natter afterwards.
After yesterday’s thoughts on lane etiquette I was conscious of observing my own guidance – did a couple of overtakes, one mid-water tumble and felt calm all the way through my 3,500 metres. To those of you reading in south London – come and join us. Ten o’clock most days for an hour or so. Followed by an optional fry-up. And it’s only £2.70 in!
