working and stroking

In Woking yesterday to run two meetings, one finished at 3, the other didn’t start til 6.30. What’s a man to do? Go swimming! Woking pool is 25m, 28’C and was just about empty on a Thursday afternoon. I shared a lane for half an hour and then had it all to myself. Mostly focusing on stroke, but a bit of speed work and the increasingly habitual backstroke at the end.

Woke up this morning to go up town for some training, but cancelled and went to Crystal Palace instead. I figured an hour of meditative swimming was more valuable than six hours of emotional incontinence – and Mrs Ape’s a far better therapist than a stranger. Played snap with Egg’s trunks (not as pervy as it sounds!) and got mesmerised by the dappling sunlight in the bottom of the pool. Swimming is blissful.
