Pootling around East Portlemouth

Which has a ferry over to Salcombe. A place I have not visited, but from where I stood on the other side of the estuary, looked to be well heeled. Very well heeled. Ethan is down for Christmas. After the last few weeks it’s good that he and Kate can have some time together. Being outdoors has long been an imperative of us all, and our friend Mark, so we agreed to a walk around the cliffs from Salcombe to Gara. A stretch I needed to scope out for a run event next year, and part of what Ms Furre and I may swim next year in our rolling Start West adventure.

The pictures convey its beauty more than I can in words, but I think it was also a restorative for us. A few hours with the sea about us; a quick dip; a lovely view from the Gara House Cafe; random chats with strangers on insulation and swimming; mucking about and stories of our lives lately.

  1. Mill Bay Cove is nice but you will no doubt have noticed as you followed the coast path that you can get down on to Sunny Cove out nearer the point which is gorgeous but go at low tide(ish).

‘Gara Rock Beach’ is properly called Seacombe Sands.
