Which I wasn’t supposed to win, but did. As part of the many efforts in the Shoalstone Revival, more events and races play a part. So we decided to have a Last Swim of the Year cup – partly because several local swimmers have a regular event at Hope Cove in NYD – but also to differentiate us from other swims. I bought a small trophy. I conceived a handicap system. I began the race thinking I shouldn’t win it and then won it. Eight of us took part in the first race in the pool for years, followed by loads more getting in for a dip afterwards. We’ll do more, we’ll bring in more swimmers, we shall stay open.
Thanks to the volunteers who clean and manage the pool, and to the people of Brixham and visitors who use it and donate to its running costs. We appreciate it.
