Fiona, a friend from the Big Smoke, is in Dartmouth for a week and swimming with her local friends over a week of walks, rides and immersions. Today was my turn! I arrived early, keen to imbibe a delicious coffee at the Dartmouth Castle cafe, to find it closed on winter opening hours. So a stroll down to Castle Cove; a warning to the rock scramblers of the incoming tide; and a long meditation looking over the mouth the Dart. And then on to Sugary Cove among talks of food, death, people in common and the joy of being outdoors.
Despite my reputation, I have not been in the briny much lately. So am feeling it when I get in, but then it fades and I accept the cold, the tingling flanks and the numbness my cheeks. A short bobbing around type swim, then homemade chocolate bars and tea. He he.
